Amirim for Life

The Amirim for Life program promotes a greater awareness of road safety. Together with the Or Yarok non-profit organization and the Ministry of Transportation, Amirim for Life fights carnage on the roads. Students and volunteers provide instructive sessions for young drivers by running personal workshops with the driver and the accompanying parent, giving lectures in schools and also in kindergartens.

For Marlen Bashir Amar, a construction engineering student, this is a personal attempt to prevent another terrible catastrophe, similar to that which she and her family experienced with the death of her 17-year-old brother Amar, who was killed in a car accident.

“Because of plain carelessness I lost a budding flower that was plucked from my heart. I have been through, and am still going through, a very difficult time trying to deal with the loss, along with my family.

“Every time I remember Amar I say to myself – we must do something, we must stop the next accident. Amirim for Life gave me the best prospect of preventing the next disaster.”
