Amirim for Sciences

Afra Raida, a resident of the village of Magar and a graduate of the Mathematics and Statistics Department at Haifa University, has realized the goals of the Amirim foundation. Over the past year, Afra was introduced to the "Amirim for Science" program, which supports scientific subjects in the education systems in regional schools.

 

The students, who come mostly from different settlements in the region and are rooted in the world of science, are granted a generous scholarship. In  return, they later join the schools' education system.

 

 

In most cases, pupils who are interested in science receive supplementary lessons and assistance in preparing for matriculation exams, but connections with students go far beyond that, as Afra notes.

 

"As opposed to most other projects that focus on assisting young children in our area, Amirim for Sciences helps youth at a critical stage of their lives, before the matriculation exams. When I heard about the project I immediately signed up."
